Lugarno singer Simone Waddell has released a new single which coincides with a show at Cronulla on September 2.
Waddell, one of Australia’s top contemporary jazz, soul and funk artists, said she was looking forward to performing the new single live.
“I have a wonderful live show coming up at The Brass Monkey with an incredible band and it will include the release of my brand new single, Keeping My Peace On,” Waddell said.
Waddell said she will be joined on stage by an all-star band including Mitch Farmer who was the drummer for the hit musical, Beautiful - The Life of Carole King, and Scottish singer Mary Kiani on backing vocals.
“ARIA award-winning singer of Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Pat Powell, will also be singing a duet with me,” Waddell said.
Waddell, who holds a Contemporary Music Bachelor of Arts degree from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston Massachusetts, recently completed her Masters Degree at the Sydney Conservatorium.
She said Keeping My Peace On was an enjoyable collaboration with her US alma mater.
“The new single has unbelievable backing vocals by Dennis Montgomery who runs the gospel choir at Berklee College of Music,” Waddell said. “I was the first Australian to win a scholarship to Berklee years ago, and it is amazing to still have those musical relationships.”
